Sherbrooke

Sherbrooke,

Tuesday, July 24. Sherbrooke, QC

Hot and humid; what more could a dude from the south want in a race. These were the conditions for the regional crit in Sherbrooke.
The race started out as it typically does; one quick surge from the gun then everyone looks for the other to do the work. With the warmer weather everyone seemed to be in slow motion creating a relatively slow pace. This was the scenario for the first half of the race until I and a few others tried on several occasions to slip off the front but could not seem to shack the continual chaser. After about 10 minutes of constant attacks, a small group containing some good riders was finally able to detach themselves from the field to gain a 20 second gap after a full lap. At this point the chasers seemed realized that they let he winning break go up the rode, so I jump. I made sure to that a jump hard enough to bring anyone with me to bridge the gap so when reached the group I had to sit on a bit in order to recover. The group was made up of 6 riders representing all the stronger team in the race that night. Everyone was working pretty evenly until 2 laps to go at which point we were only 20 seconds from lapping the field. At this point the break began to slow while working to set up for the final sprint. A couple of riders tried to go at it alone but were brought back quickly. This type of action worked out well for me as I wanted the break to stay together heading for the sprint allows me to float to the back and wait for the first jump. About 500 meters from the line the first jump went and everyone latched on. I was the four to get involved and was quickly able to get up to speed and slip right by the other to win by a couple of bike length. Another win for TEAM TAXI.
